New Jersey began a process to reform the teacher and principal evaluation system in the 2011-2012 school year. Initially known as Excellent Educators for New Jersey (EE4NJ), this initiative is now called AchieveNJ. As of the 2013-2014 school year all districts across the state were required to be fully implementing a research based teacher and principal evaluation system in order to enhance performance as evidence by administrative evaluation and student achievement data.

Evesham Township began the process of building capacity for implementation of the teacher and principal evaluation in January of 2012. We formed a District Evaluation Advisory Committee (DEAC), made up of various stakeholders throughout the district. This committee was responsible for researching and making recommendations to the Board of Education regarding adopted systems. The district elected to utilize for teaching staff the Charlotte Danielson, A Framework for Teachers Evaluation Model. For principals and vice principals the district selected the New Jersey Principal Evaluation for Professional Learning (NJPEPL) Observation Instrument. The DEAC committee continued to meet on an ongoing basis to provide feedback and make recommendations on implementation through the 2017-2018 school year, prior to transitioning meetings to the school-level only. Each school has a designated ScIP committee that meets annually at periodic times during the school year to assist with implementation, evaluate data, and plan/connect professional development at the building-level.
