Disability Insurance Program

You may not be aware of the fact that school districts do not contribute to the State of New Jersey Disability Plan. If you exhaust your sick leave, you will not receive any compensation for missed time from work unless you have purchased a disability insurance plan. Payments for these policies are deducted from your pay check. There may also be a portion of your premium paid by the Board of Education. Check your Collective Bargaining Agreement booklet to see if you qualify for this benefit.
