Kindness Matters

Make a Difference with Kindness

Kindness is a district-wide theme for the 2021-2022 school year in the ETSD!  The theme was first introduced to our students back in June with the release of the Summer Literacy and Math Project, which annually includes one required read modified from the national One School, One Book initiative.  In Evesham, the initiative is modified to add choice for students and renamed One District, One Theme.  The Summer 2021 Be Kind theme allowed students to select from a variety of texts all connected in some ways to kindness.  Elementary students selected one of the five books below, while middle school had a choice of four titles.

Language arts classes started the new school year with discussions on the summer reading books, focusing on the theme of kindness and challenged students to choose kindness all year long.  This theme, along with basic routines and structures are established during the first six weeks of school to create safe, inclusive environments in our schools where kindness and learning flourish. Natural opportunities will continue to occur at different times throughout the school year to recognize and continue celebrating this important theme. These include, but are not limited to, lessons/activities such as Week of Respect, The Great Kindness Challenge, No Place for Hate and more!
What can you do to show kindness? Please join us in promoting kindness in our classrooms, our schools, and our community. It can begin with you!
